Austin is more than just the capital of Texas, it's the Live Music Capital of the World! With dozens of bands playing every night of the week, you're sure to find something to delight your ears. Be sure to ask our staff about their favorite local bands and venues!

We are also located right at the gate of the Texas Hill country, with gorgeous hiking and biking trails starting right at our doorstep in the Austin Greenbelt.

Austin is also well known for being one of the most wired cities in the country, with free WiFi hot spots all over town, including here at the hostel.

We're also well-known for being an independent film mecca, with film festivals, screenings, and movie shoots occuring all year long. Be sure to check out the Alamo Drafthouse while you're here - great independent and first run movies, with food and drinks brought to you while you watch!

HI-Austin in a non-profit 501(c)3 educational organization, and is a member of the worldwide organization Hostelling International. Our mission is "to help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling."

Located on the banks of the Colorado River, our 42-bed hostel is less than a fifteen minute city bus ride from the live music scene on 6th Street & Red River downtown, Barton Springs natural pool, the Mexican freetail bat colony at the Congress Avenue bridge, or to the University of Texas at Austin.
